The Catholic Defender: Tale of the $1,500 Caper

This past week my bank account was robber of $1,500 dollars as three checks were falsely cashed by a thief at a local bank.

As soon as I found out about it I called the police who responded to the call taking down information.

basically informed me what the possible means are to get the villains and get my money back.

He didn't offer much hope in getting my money back. If they should catch them, the chance of them having our money would be slim to none.

The following day I went to file a warrant out for the arrest of the criminal who went by several alias names.
The Police Officer that originally responded to our call came back to give me what he thought was new information. Information that could save the day!

At this time we ended up talking about the Catholic Faith. I have several objects outside and inside our home that indicates our Christian heritage.

Come to find out the Police Officer was Catholic, but had not been to Mass for about 10 years.

This gave me an opening!

The following day, I went back to the Police Station to meet a detective who was working our case. We spoke for awhile when the opportunity to speak about the Catholic Church came up.

Come to find out the detective was Catholic, but had not been to Mass for several years. That opened the door for another good discussion about the Catholic Faith. We talked for about twenty-minutes on that subject.

That is two police officers in two days that I've had the chance to witness to. As I was leaving the Police Station, a lady who had been sitting in the lobby over heard our discussion.

It turns out she is very interested in the Catholic Faith so I invited her to check out our RCIA class this coming Wednesday. I spoke with the lady for about 20 minutes out side the Police Station.

I don't know if I will get all my money back before the villain of this story is caught, but the doors opened for three different individuals are a result of the $1,500.00 caper.

We are to be a sign and witness to whom we meet as the opportunity dictates. Sometimes it jumps right into your lap!

Perhaps even the villain in this caper might find the Catholic Faith through this episode!

It is an opportunity to forgive, plus it is also an opportunity for the villain to serve out his penace!

For all you thieves out there, here is a good verse for you: "The thief must no longer steal, but rather labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with one in need" (Ephesians 4:28)

Now that is good advice!
