*BEST OF DTB #109* The Catholic Defender looks at FreeMasonary

Before I begin my artical on FreeMasonry, I want to encourage anyone who might be interested in this subject, please get John Salza's book, "Masonary Unmasked".

He was a former Mason. On 25 July 2008, John Salza is interviewed on "The Abundant Life", television show. It was aired on EWTN.

I recommend this book and the show which is very informative. You can get the DVD from contacting the Show, "The Abundant Life" or you can catch it on YouTube.

The first Masonic Grande Lodge was formed in 1717, London, England. In America, it first appeared in Philadephia (1730) and Boston (1733). It can be shown that it grew out of medival guilds of the stonemasons. This explains many of the symbols of Freemasonry such that deal with brick laying.

Several American patriots like Ben Franklin, Paul Revere, and George Washington, were Masons. Many of those who framed the Constitution of the United States, such as John Hancock, Samual Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, were Masons.

So why does the Catholic Church have serious concerns and forbids her churchmen to join it? What's all the fuss? According to the Seattle Times in a special October edition in 1982, it reported that the average age joining the Masons was 38 years old.

The Masons are seen supporting hospitals, children's burn centers, and handicapped children. A Christian is faced with several situations that put them in compromise.

How you wonder? When a Christian is faced with holding an authority equal or greater than the Apostolic authority of the Church especially when you have a secret society that traditionally is anti-Catholic, you have real problems.

Jesus established the Catholic Church giving it his authority. Canon Law is the authority in matters of faith and morals (Matthew 28:16-20). No Christian should bind themselves to any other spiritual authority other than the Church Christ founded.

In what is called the 'York' rite in the 7th degree, Masons learn the secret name of the Masonic god and takes upon himself the password of the 'Royal Arch Member', "I am that I am".

Candidates for that degree are presented in groups of three, and it requires that same number of 'Royal Arch Masons' to pronounce the sacred name.

The name "Jaobulon" is taken from the following:
Jao is the Greek word for Yahweh or Jehovah,

but is a rendering of the name 'Baal' (1 Kings 18:22),

and the 'On' is the name used in the Babylonian mysteries to call upon the name of the evil deity, 'Osiris'.

What an unholy alliance! The Trinity is a striking contrast that the Catholic Church teaches, one God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We have the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sanctifier all in one, who wants to be the center of our life.

The Name of Jesus is the name above all names (Philippians 2:9-10), the name according to Ed Becker, once a leading authority on the subject of Masonry, states, "The Lord Jesus Christ, his name cannot be lawfully uttered in testimony or prayer in virtually any Masonic Lodge".

The Masons will equate all the "gods" of men as equal taking what they believe as 'good' from all of them and combine them. One popular question heard a lot even from well meaning Christians is, "Don't you think Jesus and Buddha are the same god"? Don't you think they just represent different cultures and backgrounds"?

The answer will always be 'NO'! Jesus states that no man comes to the Father but by Jesus, who is his only begotten Son (Matthew 7:21). Freemasonry declares that its deity, the "Great Architect of the Universe", can be worshipped by all men, whether they be Buddhist, Christians, Muslims, or Hindus, 'without controversy".

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me". The Masons maintain the Bible "no better or no worse than any other holy book". The Masons declare that man can be saved by his own labors without faith in Jesus sacrifice on the cross.

The Masons blaspheme the name of God by associating His name with pagan fertility gods such as Baal, they reject the doctrine of hell. Freemasons require that men swear oaths on a Bible in the name of God including mutilation and murder of human beings (Duncan, Ritual, pp. 35, 65, 96).

The Masons demand members to call their leaders titles like "Worshipful Master", and kneel before them. Going back to the founding Fathers of our Country, check the overlay (map) of Washington D.C.

It was laid out in the form of central Masonic symbols; the square, the compass, and the rule. Take the map, face the capital building from the mall and using the capital as the head or the top of the compass.

The left leg is represented by Pennsylvania Avenue

and the right leg by Maryland Avenue.

The square is found in the usual Masonic position with the intersection of Canal Street and Louisiana Avenue.

The left leg of the compass stands on the White House

and the right leg stands on the Jefferson Memorial.

The circle drive and short streets behind the Capital complete the picture to form the head and ears of what Satanists call the "Goat of Mendes" or "Goat's Head". The goat head happens to be the universal symbol of Satanism (Matthew 26:31-35).

On top of the White House is an inverted five-pointed star, called a pentagram. This is a high-level symbol of witchcraft and Satanism. The point rests squarely on the White House and is facing south in the true occult fashion. It sits within the intersections of Connecticut and Vermont Avenues north to Dupont and Logan circles with Rhode Island and Massachussetts going to Washington Circle to the west and Mount Vernon Square on the east.

The center of the pentagram is 16th Street where 13 blocks due north of the very center of the White House. The Masonic House of the Temple sits at the top of this occult iceberg. The Washington Monument stands perfect line to the intersecting point to form the Masonic square, stretching from the House of the Temple to the Capital Building.

Within the right triangle of the pentagram sits many of the headquarters buildings of our government such as the Justice Department, U.S. Senate, and the I.R.S.

Most of the federal building have had a cornerstone laid in a Masonic ritual and specific Masonic paraphernalia placed in each one. These cornerstones contain Masonic documents showing that the building have been dedicated to the god of masonry, "Jao-Bul-On".

Nicholas Cage would really love this!

The Catholic Defender: Holy Family Meeker Colorado

I had a great opportunity to go to Mass here in Meeker Colorado.  Visiting this Parish I felt a great sense of history.

The Church itself is a Romanesque style red brick building.  According to Denver's record of the Church, it was dedicated in 1913.

I recall that it was 1917 when Buffalo Bill Cody (famed pioneer of the old West) was Baptized a Catholic in this very Diocese just two days before his death.

It would be a former enemy of Buffalo Bill that would ultimately inspire him to become Catholic.  This would be Sitting Bull who himself converted to the Catholic Faith Baptized by Father De Smet.  Sitting Bull would play a part in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show so there was great mutual respect between them.

It would be very possible that Buffalo Bill might have had the chance to have been in this Church! I have found no record of this, but the age and place makes it possible.

Having the chance to participate and attend Mass in this Church that is still in use, it is a very beautiful Church.

After the Mass, I had the opportunity to meet several of the Parishioners.  These are faithful people who love the Lord and the Catholic Faith.

I met a Doctor and his wife who moved there a couple of years ago from New Mexico.  They are really excited about their faith.  I spoke with another couple who had been married for 51 years.  Bob was raised in Kansas who (as a boy) personally knew Father Kapaun, a Catholic Military Chaplain of the United States Army.

The rich history here seeing the faithful totally alive in Christ.  I met the youth Minister who was coming to the Spanish Mass.  We talked for a while before he went in for Mass.  Father Enrigue is the Vicar Priest serving with Father Geronimo who is the main Pastor.  They are great Priests of God who are taking care of their churches.

It is very important that we pray for our Priests, they are certainly under attack and the vast majority of them are honorable God fearing men.

Walking inside the church, you can feel the presence of Christ in this historic place.  It is holy ground.  Here, you can see the altar of the Lord.

St. Paul writes "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?  Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread." 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

I had been in a second century catacomb where the Early Church held Mass participating in the Eucharistic feast.  Now, I have been participating with those that reach back through American history participating in the same Eucharistic Feast.  This is all through the same Catholic Church.

The second century catacomb still marked the grave of the martyred Priest, here in Meeker Colorado, the Priests continue the work of Christ offering a pure sacrifice united with every Catholic Church all over the world.

They are true sons of our Lady (Psalms 45:16), the Lord has made them "a kingdom (the Catholic Church) and priests to our God and they shall reign on earth." Revelation 5:10

The Lord's presence is made manifest in the breaking of bread.  Malachi 1:11 states, "For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts."

Jesus said, "Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:28

This fulfills the promise God spoke to the Prophet Jeremiah 31:31-34.  This is very important, "For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes." 1 Corinthians 11:26

Each Catholic Church tells a story, if you were to take a good look at the Church, you would be able to see many things that tells the true story of Christ.

All Catholic Churches have Baptismal fonts that cleanses the faithful through Baptism.

Pope Alexander 1 (105 A.D.) is credited for establishing the Baptismal (holy water) font at the front of the meeting place.

In the Early Church, this would be in a home, a catacomb, a cave, some place in hiding.  But with the Edict of Milan in the early 4th century the Church came out into the open.  What you see here at Holy Family in Meeker Colorado, you will see the same opportunity in every Church!

This is the Catholic Church, the household of Faith.  This represents what is interior in the soul of the Christian, the exteriors should reflect the interior life.  Everything the Catholic Church does is to reflect the light of Christ and to foster devotion.  To lead souls to Heaven.

No matter where you might be in the world, where there is Mass being offered, we will recognize a little bit of home where you go.

Today, I was the pilgrim coming to my home away from home.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to see this special gift from the Lord Jesus Christ, that we can share in this Kingdom of God as His Children.

Assumptions about the Assumption being an assumption.

Today is the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady. In Catholicism, it is one of six specific holy days of obligation (in addition to Sundays).

Now, many protestants view the Assumption as something that Catholics just dreamed up and that we did it in 1950, when the doctrine was formally defined.

Let's deal with the second premise first. A Doctrine is defined as infallible only after a formal challenge. The doctrine of the Assumption was believed by Christians from the very start of the church and ancient artwork proves this.

That the writings of the early church prove the Assumption many centuries before 1950 is a matter quite beyond dispute;

If therefore it might come to pass by the power of your grace, it has appeared right to us your servants that, as you, having overcome death, do reign in glory, so you should raise up the body of your Mother and take her with you, rejoicing, into heaven. Then said the Savior [Jesus]: "Be it done according to your will" (The Passing of the Virgin 16:2-17 [A.D. 300]).
Timothy of Jerusalem

Therefore the Virgin is immortal to this day, seeing that he who had dwelt in her transported her to the regions of her assumption (Homily on Simeon and Anna [A.D. 400]).
John the Theologian

The Lord said to his Mother, "Let your heart rejoice and be glad. For every favor and every gift has been given to you from my Father in heaven and from me and from the Holy Spirit. Every soul that calls upon your name shall not be ashamed, but shall find mercy and comfort and support and confidence, both in the world that now is and in that which is to come, in the presence of my Father in the heavens". . . And from that time forth all knew that the spotless and precious body had been transferred to paradise (The Dormition of Mary [A.D. 400]).
Gregory of Tours

[T]he Apostles took up her body on a bier and placed it in a tomb; and they guarded it, expecting the Lord to come. And behold, again the Lord stood by them; and the holy body having been received, He commanded that it be taken in a cloud into paradise: where now, rejoined to the soul, [Mary] rejoices with the Lord's chosen ones. . . (Eight Books of Miracles 1:4 [A.D. 575]).
Theoteknos of Livias

It was fitting ... that the most holy-body of Mary, God-bearing body, receptacle of God, divinised, incorruptible, illuminated by divine grace and full glory ... should be entrusted to the earth for a little while and raised up to heaven in glory, with her soul pleasing to God (Homily on the Assumption [ca. A.D. 600]).
Modestus of Jerusalem

As the most glorious Mother of Christ, our Savior and God and the giver of life and immortality, has been endowed with life by him, she has received an eternal incorruptibility of the body together with him who has raised her up from the tomb and has taken her up to himself in a way known only to him (Encomium in dormitionnem Sanctissimae Dominae nostrae Deiparae semperque Virginis Mariae [ante A.D. 634]).
Germanus of Constantinople

You are she who, as it is written, appears in beauty, and your virginal body is all holy, all chaste, entirely the dwelling place of God, so that it is henceforth completely exempt from dissolution into dust. Though still human, it is changed into the heavenly life of incorruptibility, truly living and glorious, undamaged and sharing in perfect life (Sermon I [A.D. 683]).
John Damascene

It was fitting that the she, who had kept her virginity intact in childbirth, should keep her own body free from all corruption even after death. It was fitting that she, who had carried the Creator as a child at her breast, should dwell in the divine tabernacles. It was fitting that the spouse, whom the Father had taken to himself, should live in the divine mansions. It was fitting that she, who had seen her Son upon the cross and who had thereby received into her heart the sword of sorrow which she had escaped when giving birth to him, should look upon him as he sits with the Father, It was fitting that God's Mother should possess what belongs to her Son, and that she should be honored by every creature as the Mother and as the handmaid of God (Dormition of Mary [A.D. 697])
Gregorian Sacramentary

Venerable to us, O Lord, is the festivity of this day on which the holy Mother of God suffered temporal death, but still could not be kept down by the bonds of death, who has begotten Thy Son our Lord incarnate from herself (Gregorian Sacramentary, Veneranda [ante A.D. 795]).

So much for the notion that it was invented in the 20th century.

As for the contention that it is dreamed up, that is utter nonsense. It is based on historical fact and Biblical fact and both are pretty irrefutable.

First, the historical. The remains of every single one of the original Apostles, as well as the actual nails, burial shroud and pieces of the Cross of Christ are in the possession of Catholic churches in various parts of the world. These are facts and the have the historical documentation to prove it.

In addition to the Apostles, figures such as Mary Magdalene are present as well. In fact, virtually every New Testament figure of prominence has a body or part of a body in a sacred tomb at some location. This continues the Biblical tradition. For example, Joseph's bones being carried out during the Exodus.

There are two notable exceptions- Jesus and Mary.

Now, onto the Biblical evidence. Virtually all who are called Christians agree that Jesus, of His own power, Ascended into heaven about 40 days after His Resurrection. Protestants will offer that we know this because the Bible shows it. They are right.

For the same reason, we know that Mary was Assumed into heaven, that is taken Body and Soul, like Enoch and Elijah. We can know this with absolute certainty because the Bible says so if we only have the courage to believe the plain and unambiguous words of Scripture from Revelation 11 & 12.

Revelation 11:19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple; and there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

John looked up and saw the Ark of the Covenant in the heavenly temple. You mean the box that carried the 10 Commandments? No. That was just a model. What John saw was the actual Ark that carried the actual Word of God inside Her.

All you have to do is read the very next verses. It is absolutely inescapable.

Revelation 12:1 A great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pangs, in the agony of giving birth. Then another portent appeared in heaven: a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, so that he might devour her child as soon as it was born. And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule[a] all the nations with a rod of iron. But her child was snatched away and taken to God and to his throne;

The child, obviously is Jesus.

Those who suggest the woman is Israel speak nonsense. There is a very simple logical syllogism at work here.

A) The Woman of Revelation 11:19-12:17 is shown as;
  • The Ark of the Covenant.
  • A Queen (crowned with stars)
  • The Mother of God
  • The Mother of all Christians.
  • The enemy of the dragon.
  • In heaven with a body (head and feet)
B) The child of the Woman of Revelation 11:19-12:17 is clearly Jesus.

Thus, C), Jesus Mother, Mary is;

  • The Ark of the Covenant.
  • A Queen (crowned with stars)
  • The Mother of God
  • The Mother of all Christians.
  • The enemy of the dragon.
  • In heaven with a body (head and feet)

  • To argue against this is an exercise in futility.

    The Jerk

Last night, I encountered this incredible jerk. A situation had occurred involving a little fender bender..... no....not even a fender bender....a fender scratcher and the poor lady was clearly upset. Really, it was one of those accidents that was just that. A car backing out of a driveway, another car in the blind spot. It happens. As accidents go, this one was really pretty minor. I am quite sure this car can be fixed to brand new condition at no more than $500 or $600 tops and without insurance.

Anyway, back to the jerk. Here is this IDIOT yelling and losing his mind in his neighborhood driveway because his wife wasn't taking his advice on what to do in that particular situation. What a loser, what an absolute Neanderthal this guy is, yelling at her when she is clearly exhausted and paralyzed with confusion and doesn't know what to do.

I don't know what causes people to act like that but they don't have any excuse. This guy needs to man up, admit he acted like a total idiot and accept the consequences.

That's hard though, isn't it? That is really the rub and the struggle and the cross. Warring against that pride that tells us that we are right, we act like we do because......

No, there is no because. A scratch on a fender of a car you have had for a week is not a crisis, it is not a tragedy and that is the first thing you should have told your wife, you self-centered, maniac. You should have been comforting her and calming her down rather than flipping out because she didn't listen.

There is no because. You own it. You acted like a jerk without justification, without excuse and of your own free will. Deal with it.

Remember all the times you let her down. Remember all the times she caught you when you fell, carried you in your grief, stood behind you when you could not find the strength to go on. Remember that this is your soul mate, your life partner, your rock. This is the woman who taught you what love really looks like and here you are, you slovenly bastard, railing at her like some kind of demoniac. You should have your butt kicked and I am just about in the mind to do it

There is no place in the world for people like this guy. They deserve to be horsewhipped. The sad thing is that she will probably forgive him, though I certainly cannot see why. He doesn't deserve it. People like this infuriate me and thinking about this jerk this morning made me physically sick to my stomach.

It was all the worse because I had to look at the SOB in the mirror.

What great confidence we can have in God's Grace that can cleanse us from this kind of a day. What a wonderful woman I have and how much I don't deserve her. I am remembering all the times she showed me compassion when I felt wounded. How horrible I feel now, having squandered a chance to do the same. I wish I could find a rock to crawl under.

I just want each of you to know what a wonderful person she is. Even in this mishap, she was pushing herself beyond exhaustion to do something good for someone else. Everyone should be blessed enough to know someone like her and to have them in their life. "Sorry" just doesn't seem enough right now, so I will just say I love you. More than life, more than words can say, I love you.

The Catholic Defender Riding High In The Rockies

Today was a really good day, I spoke with Father Enrique at Holy Family Catholic Church in Meeker Colorado and he invited for me to speak at both, Holy Family in Meeker (Monday evening) and St. Ignatius of Antioch in Rangely this Friday evening.

I am looking forward to both opportunities.

I ask for your prayers for Richard Lane who suffered a heart attack this morning.

Richard has appeared on Deepertruth and conducts Missions throughout the Country.

He is one of the great Catholic Evangelists today.  You can find more info at his Facebook page or the Rosary Patrol page.

I want to thank Sambrero Ranch for the opportunity to do the following presentation. This is from their web site ( http://www.sombrero.com/ ) : "As you explore the mountain on our trail rides, you may catch a glimpse of elk, deer or coyote. The horse riding experience will take you through the forest in the Rockies. Sit back and absorb the natural beauty of the area. The changes in weather make for dramatic back drops and wildlife you don't get to see any other time of the year."

Deeper Truth members preparing for pilgrimage to Italy !

Exactly 2 months from today, October 13th, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, Deeper Truth members Ross Earl Hoffman, Paul Sindelar and myself, Margie Sindelar will be flying out to Venice, our first destination of an almost month long pilgrimage in Italy.  Our pilgrimage will include cities such as Milan, Padua, Sienna, Bologna, Assisi, Sorento, the Amalfi Coast and ending in Rome !

We are launching a new ministry which will focus on the amazing history of our Catholic Church that was founded by Christ 2000 years ago.  We believe that anyone who studies the history of Christianity, her Saints and Martyrs will come to know that the church of Jesus was founded on Peter the Rock, just as He said in Matthew 16:18 !

We invite you to join us in our exploration of some of the holiest sites in the world, as we share our experience via videos and pictures that we will be posting on our Facebook page

    "Roaming Romans".

In addition there is a Note within the page for you to place your prayer intentions that we will present in petition to all the Holy Tombs of our Saints, including the tomb of St. Peter!  Stay tuned for the miraculous medals blessed by Pope Francis and touched to all the holy sites, that we will be making available to you.

Please pray for us in these remaining weeks that our final preparations are fruitful and that our travels are safe and sanctifying.

God bless you and stay tuned,

    Margie

    The Catholic Defender: God's Country

This past week I have been blessed to visit my wife, Gigi, who is in Rangely Colorado.  Among the first places I found was the local Catholic Church, St. Ignatius of Antioch.

When you visit this Church, it will remind you of a small church located on the frontier.  It is surrounded by mountains and sand.

Do you remember "HeeHaw"? Rangely population 2351 at an elevation of 5230 feet above sea level.  (Salute)

Moving around up here can cause you to work on your breathing.

St. Ignatius of Antioch is one of my favorite Saints because he was a sure tie to the Apostles in his Ministry.  He was a disciple of St. John the Apostle and ordained as the third Bishop of Antioch by St. Peter.

St. Ignatius would be taken to Rome under cruelty by Roman Guards where ultimately he would be thrown to wild beasts in the Coliseum.  On this trip he wrote seven letters which are very important to the Early Church.

"Take care to do all things in harmony with God, with the bishop presiding in the place of God, and with the presbyters in the place of the council of the apostles, and with the deacons, who are most dear to me, entrusted with the business of Jesus Christ, who was with the Father from the beginning and is at last made manifest — Letter to the Magnesians 2, 6:1"

"Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful to baptize or give communion without the consent of the bishop. On the other hand, whatever has his approval is pleasing to God. Thus, whatever is done will be safe and valid. — Letter to the Smyrnaeans"

At Mass this past Sunday it was a real joy to meet several people many of whom worked with and knew Gigi at the local hospital.  Plus there were several young adults who attend a local college near by.

The Priest's name is Father Geronimo, a great preacher who travels through three Parishes, St. Ignatius here in Rangely, Holy Family in Meeker, and St. Michael in Craig Colorado.  This particular Sunday he was driving to Denver for a Pastorial Meeting.  I was raised in Southern Missouri where Catholic Priests do the same thing as Father will travel many miles to bring the Eucharist to the scattered faithful.

The roads leading to Rangely Colorado are very beautiful and scenic but very dangerous.  At times you have a 15 MPH speed limit moving up and down these mountain passes.

Especially the mountain pass known as "Douglas Pass".  In winter time this pass is sometimes impassable, your going to be stuck in the area until they clear the roads.

It is very moving when you travel through this pass.  Gigi brought me home from the Grand Junction Airport 88 miles away.

I had visited Colorado and skied there at Winter Park in 1976 and 77 actually obtaining college credit.  That was really great to be able to ski and learn the environment.  But this is totally different.

As we drove this route through the mountains I couldn't help but think of the early settlers who traveled this pass by wagon train.

Much of the scenery has not changed much in the wilderness.  There are still American Indian rock paintings found in this area giving you a sense of rich history here.

Traveling this route at night is particularly dangerous because there are large elk, deer, black bears, wild boars, they would totally destroy our 2006 "hampered" BMW should I hit one of them.

We would park the car so I could take some of these pictures which cannot be fully captured on the camera.  I was literally standing at the edge of the Clift which was a daunting view.  It was a drop off of hundreds of feet.  There was no safety rail so I just kind of inched my way to the edge.

Consider Jesus words, "Because of your little faith, For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from hence to yonder place,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible."

I also remember Isaiah 42:11, "Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the inhabitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the top of the mountains".

What an opportunity to do so here in the highlands of Colorado just a few minutes away from Utah!

That Catholics of Rangely Colorado have something even more wondrous to behold, the King of the Universe, the Lord of all creation is truly present in the Eucharist here at the Church of St. Ignatius of Antioch.

Not only are we to shout it from the mountain tops, but "Whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops." (Luke 12:3)

I'll let Hebrews 13:9-14 close this article out: "Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching. It is good to have our hearts strengthened by grace and not by foods, which do not benefit those who live by them. We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. The bodies of the animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as a sin offering are burned outside the camp. Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gate, to consecrate the people by his own blood. Let us then go to him outside the camp bearing the reproach that he bore. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the one that is to come"..

    Notre Dame season preview

The last time there was a kickoff in a College football game, Notre Dame was the #1 team in the country, a position they had held for almost 2 months.

That is when they run into the wrecking ball known as the Alabama Crimson Tide.

On my birthday in 2011, I attended one of the most embarrassing and inexcusable Notre Dame losses in the history of the school. It also happened to be my first-ever Notre Dame game and the first ever night game in the history of Michigan stadium.

In that game, Notre Dame lost despite more than 500 yards of offense. That is a staggering fact made even more amazing by the fact that they had done it now two consecutive times. The Irish were outscored 28-7 in the 4th quarter by Michigan.

Since that game, the Irish are 20-4 with those 4 losses all coming to highly ranked teams- USC, Stanford, Florida State and Alabama. If they have accomplished nothing else, the Irish appear to be finally back to beating teams they should beat.

This makes the current bear market on the Irish a bit puzzling to me. Last year, 5 teams on the Irish's regular season schedule were ranked higher than them in the pre-season top 25. Notre Dame won all 5 of those games- an unlikely accomplishment to say the least. People were quite justified in their belief that it was impossible for the Irish to run the table.

But this year? There is only 1 opponent ranked higher and we get them (Stanford) the last game of the season. The Defense (especially the secondary) looks to be improved over last year. Yet, I am incredulous that people scoff when I say the offense will be better too.

In 2011, Offense was not the problem. In 2012, it was. Look no further than the Michigan games for proof. In 2011, we hung 31 on the Skunks, in 2012, we managed only 13. I know. I was at both games.

Yet, with 31, we lost and with 13, we won. It's a funny ol' world.

This year, Tommy Rees' experience combined with a wealth of young talent at RB, shifty feet in backup QBs Hendrix and Zaire and some talented receivers, I look for a huge upgrade in point production. Combined with a shutdown defense, and a weaker schedule, I see no reason why the Irish cannot be 11-0 when the pull into Palo Alto Thanksgiving weekend.

    Aug 31 Temple

Unfortunately for the Owls, they will be the brunt of the Irish wrath from January 7th. Eager to make a statement, the Irish paste the Owls 52-0 to earn their second consecutive home shut-out (Wake Forest 38-0). Tommy Rees is the MVP with 4 Touchdown passes.

    Sept. 7th @ Michigan.

The Irish put together the last two games against Michigan. We score 31 but we only give up 6. Bennett Jackson is the MVP with 3 picks including one he takes to the house.

    September 14th @ Purdue.

The Irish get the nation's attention with a 3rd consecutive rout. 38-17. This time, it is the trio of Bryant, Carlisle and Atkinson who stomp on Purdue for 350 yards rushing.

The Irish are 3-0 and ranked #7 in the country when the enter murderer's row. If Notre Dame loses a game this season, it will be in this brutal 4 game stretch.

    September 21st Michigan State

If we do slip up, I predict it is here. State is always ready for us. I predict the Irish eek it out. Kyle Brindza is the hero with 5 field goals. The winner in overtime to preserve a nail biter of a 23-20 win.

September 28th Oklahoma. Notre Dame's dominance of Oklahoma continues as bruiser Blake Bell's running ability is held in check and his throwing ability produces 2 picks each for Kavari Russell and Bennett Jackson. A balanced offensive attack amasses more than 500 yards of offense and Oklahoma is exposed in a 40-17 blowout.

October 5th Arizona State (Shamrock series game at Texas stadium). Predicted to be a shoot-out, it does not disappoint. Rees is the hero, throwing for 355 yards and 5 touchdowns as the two teams blow out the scoreboard lights. Notre Dame wins a 44-37 barn burner.

October 19th USC. USC has beaten the Irish 6 straight times at South Bend. To put that in perspective, we have not won at home vs the Trojans since 9/11. The streak ends. This time USC is woefully out -gunned and ND has two weeks to prepare. The Irish paste USC and the fans storm the field. The Irish defense records 7 sacks and 2 interceptions and it is never really close. Stephon Tuitt records 4 of the sacks and enters the Heisman radar.Notre Dame 39 USC 10.

October 26th Air Force The triple option gives us a lot of trouble but we counter it by controlling the clock, moving the chains and gobbling up yardage. A close game blown open in the 4th quarter as the Irish power is just too much. Notre Dame 52 Air Force 24. Greg Bryant firmly establishes himself as our #1 back with a blistering 140 yard performance.

November 2nd Navy. It will be hard to imagine that this team once beat us in 3 games out of 4. Notre Dame 44 Navy 10. Another dominating performance by Tuitt.

    November 9th @ Pittsburgh
Unlike last year, Louis Nix is healthy. He dominates. The game everyone expects to be close, isn't. Notre Dame 24 Pittsburgh 10.

    November 16th BYU
By this time, Stanford has risen to #1 and the Irish survive a scary trap game, looking forward. Notre Dame 22- BYU 20. Kyle Brindza, once again, is the hero hitting the game winner with 8 seconds on the clock.

    November 23rd @ Stanford
Having risen all the way to #3, the Irish fell to #4 after their ugly win over BYU. That's right, the Irish will be ranked #4, with an 11-0 record as they face #1 Stanford, Thanksgiving weekend.

    The game.

It will be recorded as one of the greatest Notre Dame games in history. A brutal, grind it out game at some times, wild plays at other times. The two teams will change leads 6 times before Notre Dame produces a remarkably physical 78 yard drive that takes 7:54 off the clock and pulls Notre Dame to within 1 (27-26) with 1:42 left. Rather than kick the extra point, ND goes for two with Andrew Hendrix at QB. Bootlegging to his right, Hendrix is swarmed by defenders before throwing back to his left to a streaking George Atkinson who scampers in to give Notre Dame a 1 point lead (28-27).

Stanford takes over after the kickoff at their own 33 yard line with 1:33 left. Hogan goes to work and Stanford moves the ball all the way to the Notre Dame 30 yard line with 18 seconds left.

Lining up for a 47 yard FG, Stanford is flagged for a false start, backing them up to the 35.

14 seconds left, Stanford tries a draw to get back to FG range but the runner fumbles and Prince Shembo recovers, preserving the upset over the #1 team in the nation, Notre Dame's 24th consecutive regular season win.

When the BCS standings are released, Georgia has moved into the #1 spot after beating LSU in the SEC championship. Notre Dame is #2 and will play Georgia for the BCS championship.

The talk will be the same as this year- SEC too strong, Notre Dame over-matched.

The result is very different. The Irish defense harasses Aaron Murray into 3 picks and Greg Bryant and the running game take over as the double-digit under-dog Irish break the tie with Alabama and win their 12th consensus national championship by a score of 38-24.

The Catholic Defender: Call to Arms

This coming Thursday, we will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary entering Heaven body and soul.

Something we all will eventually see. In respect of the clergy who lead us in our Parishes throughout the land, I am mindful of Pslams 45:17.

It says, "The throne of your fathers your sons will have; you shall make them princes through all the land".

What an awesome prophecy in relation to Mary, our Spiritual Mother. She is our Queen as it also says in Psalms 45:9,"daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor; at your right hand stands the Queen in gold of Ophir".

Our Queen wears a crown of twelve stars, "And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothes with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (Revelation 12:1).

Revelation 12:17 focuses on the dragons anger towards this woman who then goes off to wage war with the rest of her offspring, "on those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea".

The Children of the Queen are being waged war upon, her "princes through all the land" are under attack as are all the children of God. The Dragon wants to swallow the children of God into the sea of confusion, captive to the way of the world. To drown us in despair.

This is a call to arms for the children of God to pick up the rosary and dedicate everyday the intention of interceding for the "princes through all the land".

The Dragon is attacking along the sand of the sea. He is wanting to wash the Catholic Church into the sea!

At the foot of the cross we will find our Queen, she is with the Lord in heaven interceding before the Lord for her "princes through the land".

We must pray as Our Lady asked at Fatima to pray for the Priests who are under a severe and deadly attack.

Padre Pio called the rosary, "The Weapon"!

As Knights who defend the honor of Our Lady, let us stand with her opposing those who are for the destruction of children.

Let us stand with her in the protection of true marriage. Let us stand with her in defending her "princes through the land".

The Catholic Defender: Jesus still Workers of Miracles

Thank God for the presence of strong Catholics on Facebook!

Recently I have stumbled on a couple of extra ordinary stories I was able to see on Facebook that I probably would not have known any other way.

At least I had not seen anywhere else.  There might have been a local report but not much more than that.

This is a positive aspect of Facebook and the internet and a stumbling block to the drive by media.

Last October I was a main speaker along with Richard Lane and others participating at a Marian retreat at Springfield Missouri.  I flew from Killeen Texas to Dallas Texas that was simply intended to be a quick jump to Springfield.

When I reported at my next gate, the person behind the desk informed me that my plane had not arrived to be boarded yet.  I responded simply "oh", then they went on to tell me that our plane had not left the airport in Iowa yet, I responded "oh, I'm suppose to be in Springfield for a speaking engagement",  it was clear that I would be held over for several hours at the Dallas airport.

That's when I called Dr. Gregory Thompson, Deepertruths Man of the Century, who had been one of the main organizers of the event.  I called Gregory informing him about the situation and Greg's response was in the form of a prayer, he began "Oh God" when the person behind the desk yelled out in surprise, "Wait a minute, you have a plane that just showed up"!

With the good news I was able to tell Gregory that the issue seems to be resolved.   I quickly went running through the airport along with all the other passengers.  After boarding the plane, the Flight Attendant and the Pilot came out stating, "We do not know where this plane came from, but here it is.  Please enjoy your flight..."

I was silently saying, "Thank you Lord, thank you Greg..." and I was able to arrive at Springfield close to the expected time.  To me, this was a miracle.  God opens doors as well as closes doors and what a grace to have received another great blessing.

People occasionally ask me why we do not see the miracles we find in the bible.  I can't help but respond with the importance of faith and people acting through faith.  One such story I recently reposted from a story I read on Facebook.  consider the following story...

"a little girl (Yasmin Gomes) was born prematurely at 2.6 pounds this month and stopped breathing soon after and they declared her dead and issued a death certificate

The Mother, Jenifer Gomes da Silva said, "My world crashed down right then. It was the most desperate moment when all my dreams were snatched away.” (Brazilian media)

Yasmin was pronounced dead by doctors after unsuccessful attempts to bring the child back.  A nurse Ana Claudia Oliveira, asked hospital officials to send the baby’s body to a local Catholic church instead of the hospital morgue.  Ms. Oliveira told International Business Times “I can assure you, the child was dead. Her pupils didn’t respond to light. All her signs pointed to the complete absence of life.” “I saw it with my own eyes. She was blue all over, completely dead.”

The Child Yasmin was dressed in a burial gown when Church authorities placed the baby’s body on  altar. Three hours later, the baby came alive.  (Editors note-That is the most amazing thing.  A miracle takes place on the Altar every Mass, this is unique because this is a visible transformation from death into life.)

Yasmin's Grandmother, Elza Silva, was on her way to the chapel to transfer the baby back to the hospital to the morgue when she saw the miracle take place.  She states, "At first I couldn't believe it, we couldn't accept that it could happen.  Then we saw that she was breathing.  We hugged each other and started to shout, 'she's alive, she's alive."

This next story seems to have occurred very recently: It was reported by "The Blaze", August 7 2013, just the other day, by Bill Hallowell.  This story has been making rounds throughout Facebook.  That is how I found it.  From the story:

"KHQA-TV is reporting a story that seems virtually unbelievable. After Aaron Smith, 26, struck Katie Lentz, 19, in a head-on car crash on Sunday morning, authorities claim they began a long rescue process. After 60 minutes of trying to get Lentz out of the vehicle (she was pinned between the steering wheel and the seat), rescue crews, at Lentz’s request, prayed out loud for the trapped woman.

And that’s when a mystery priest allegedly appeared. According to accounts, he came out of nowhere and brought intense calm upon the situation.

“He came up and approached the patient, and offered a prayer,” New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed told KHQA-TV. “It was a Catholic priest who had anointing oil with him. A sense of calmness came over her, and it did us as well.”

Considering how many people were at the scene and interacting with the mystery faith leader, the story is a fascinating one.

“I can’t be for certain how it was said, but myself and another firefighter, we very plainly heard that we should remain calm, that our tools would now work and that we would get her out of that vehicle,” the firefighter added.

Now here’s where things get weird. After another fire department showed up, the rescue proceeded easily and the tools worked, as promised. But when nearly a dozen firefighters turned around to thank the priest, he was gone; the road was empty. Considering that the road was blocked off for a quarter of a mile during the rescue and that no cars were around, the scenario, on the surface, seems a bit bizarre.

Lentz’s friends and family want to thank the priest, but, so far, he’s nowhere to be found.

“Where did this guy come from?” Travis Wiseman said, speaking rhetorically about the faith leader .

“We’re looking for the priest and so far, no one has seen him. Whether it was a priest as an angel or an actual angel, he was an angel to all those and to Katie.”

Smith has been charged with a DWI, second degree assault and failure to drive on the right side of the road. And the search for the priest forges on."

The more I think about this, I know that many of you out there have seen far more examples in how God is working today.  I have reported on several myself.  We can all give glory to God for answered prayers, for signs and wonders.  Even on the worst case situation when a person dies or terrible things happen, God is able to bring about a positive from a negative.  This is faith and trust working at it's best.

St Luke quotes the prophet Joel, "It will come to pass in the last days, God says, 'that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. Indeed, upon my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy. And I will work wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below; blood, fire, and cloud of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord, and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord" (Acts 2:17-21).

    The Catholic Defender: Trayvon Martin

The past several months, the media made a spectacle surrounding the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman case.  This flooded the news daily for more than a year.

By the time of the George Zimmerman trial, because of the media, it was difficult not to already have an opinion.

On the one hand you had the ultra left pushing for a trial regardless of the facts surrounding the events.

The Black Panthers literally put a bounty on George Zimmerman's head.  The family of George Zimmerman felt threatened by the negative attention.

The local police was compelled to arrest George Zimmerman because of the media attention and the liberal political will from President Obama to the Conservative talk show host Sean Hannity.

The public pressure seemed to fuel the heat caused by the racial divide in our Country.  The Ultra Left wanted to make this a case of racial injustice while the Conservative response was asking for the evidence.

I was wanting to hear all the facts of the case before I made any kind of statement regarding the verdict.  The facts surrounding the case which vindicates the local police on the merits of the facts did not silence the ultra Liberal call for racial justice.

Despite the position of Eric Holder and Company, the FBI's 16 month investigation found no racial issues that could be used against George Zimmerman which is a hard pill for the ultra left to take.

I find it interesting that those who want to make Zimmerman out to be a racist, yet they are very silent of the terrible crime taking place all over the country.

The Liberal media has an agenda and they will ignore the truth when it is not within their genre.

The Trayvon Martin tragedy is more far reaching that the shooting.  As information continues to be coming forth concerning the events that lead to the shooting, I am blown away at the underlying problem.

This video "Afterburner w/ Bill Whittle: The Lynching" really puts forth credible information that I find important to a larger problem.  The problems dealing with addiction.

The destruction of the family and the absence of Fathers is being called the new normal.  We must get back to the foundations of our holy Catholic faith which is our only hope of getting past this current wave of attacks on the family.

Was Trayvon Martin simply an innocent kid coming home with an ice tea and skittle's or is there something more sinister that lead to the shooting?  This video gives the best account that I have seen on the subject.

Trayvon Martin's liver was found to have a drug called "Lean" that is made from the use of skittles, Arizona watermelon cocktail mixed with Robitussin.  This drug causes a person to be more violent.

The Catholic Defender: Two Conversion Stories Live

Tonight on Deepertruth Radio we have the Conversion stories of Jeff Hutchins and Tyler McNabb.  What a great opportunity to give testimony for their holy Catholic Faith.

Jeff was formerly a member of the Church of Christ and Tyler was a member of a Calvinist group.  Both stories are very inspirational.

This past weekend, Sunday, I was honored to meet with Jeff and Tyler taking the Catholic Faith to the streets of Dallas.

St. Paul's Street Evangelization is making a mark across the United States with positive results bring home many who had left the faith.  We are experiencing good fruit with people taking a look at the Catholic Faith.

Tonight's show will begin at 8:00 Eastern, 7:00 Central and you can listen to this

The Catholic Defender: An Inspiring Song For Eucharistic Adoration

Jesus asks us if we can watch one hour with him? I encourage you to find the time to spend some personal time with Our Lord before the Blessed Sacrament. This devotion can really change things and offer hope. Our Church needs this devotion to counter the affects of rebellion in the wind. Let us pray for America.
