A look at Notre Dame's upcoming season
Last year, I correctly predicted Notre Dame's bowl opponent but I didn't expect the 5 losses. This year's team will lose 3 in my view but that would be considered over-achieving against such a monster schedule.
Here is how I see it shaking out.
September 1- Notre Dame 42 Navy 7. In his Notre Dame debut, Everett Golson lights it up in Dublin, Ireland but not many people notice. A 9 AM Eastern time start against an overmatched opponent. Everyone yawns and waits for the Michigan-Alabama game.
September 8th- Notre Dame 23 Purdue 21. A definate potential trap game. Going from Ireland to South Bend in one week is a bit much. This would have been a nice place for a bye week. I think the Irish survive.
September 15th- Michigan State 38 Notre Dame 35. Notre Dame hasn't gone 3-0 since 2002. The streak continues. At some point, MSU scores on a trick play.
September 22nd- Notre Dame 40 Michigan 21. The Irish roar back by routing the skunks (I will be there)
October 6th- Notre Dame 30 Miami 17. A second straight strong performance.
October 13th- Stanford 37 Notre Dame 28 ...but not a third straight
October 20th- Notre Dame 28 BYU 20 Notre Dame improves to 5-2
October 27th- Oklahoma 47 Notre Dame 20 A discouraging loss that is worse than the score shows. Notre Dame drops to 5-3 and out of the top 25.
November 3rd- Notre Dame 44 Pittsburgh 17- Notre Dame bounces back again.
November 10th- Notre Dame 41 Boston College 10
November 17th- Notre Dame 35 Wake Forest 0- ND has 3 straight strong wins against teams they won against sloppy last year. Improve to 8-3
November 24th- Notre Dame 24 USC 20. Notre Dame shocks #1 ranked Trojans for first win against a top-ranked team since 1993.
Fiesta Bowl. Notre Dame beats Wisconsin in a 44-42 shootout to finish 10-3
