Deeper Truth debate series

Announcing an upcoming series of 6 debates between John Benko and Raymond Benjamins. The debates will all follow the following template.

They will begin at 7:00 PM Eastern time with Moderator introductions.

  • The person arguing in the affirmative will then have up to 5 minutes to deliver his opening statement.
  • The opponent will have up to 3 minutes to rebut.
We will then take a short commercial break.

  • The person in opposition will deliver his open.
  • His opponent will rebut.
We will then take Break #2.

  • The person arguing in the affirmative will ask a question.
  •  His opponent will have up to 2 minutes to answer.
  • First person will have optional 1 minute rebuttal.
  • Second question, in reverse order.
  • Repeat through 4 questions each.
Final break.

  • Person arguing in affirmative gives 3 minute closing statement.
  • Opponent gives his closing statement.
  • Optional audience questions.

The moderator will be Robert Sledz of the Catholic Church vs Bible Alone forum. The rules are simple;
  • Time limits must be followed.
  • No personal attacks allowed.
  • Questions must be answered.
  • No talk- over.
The debates will be on 6 consecutive Thursdays, beginning on August 29th on the Deeper Truth show. The call in number is 646-595-2071

Here are the debates;

 1) One must completely obey and be subject to whosoever be the bishop of Rome, and to completely obey him in all matters of faith and morals, under pain of mortal sin. (excepting those invincibly ignorant) John will argue in the affirmative.

 2) The Roman Church came only to be fully functional, doctrinally and spiritually, late in the 4th Century. Raymond will argue in the affirmative.

3) Proposition: Peter was the first Bishop of Rome, to whom the whole church was subject. He died there under the reign of Nero and was replaced by Linus. John will argue the affirmative.


4) The practice of recent Popes to encourage respect for all religions proves the falsity of the Catholic church. Raymond will argue in the affirmative.

5) The Bible and the early church affirm the concepts of Mortal and Venial sin and of purgatory. John will argue in the affirmative.

6) The invocation of deceased saints violates the Bible and the early church. Raymond will argue in the affirmative.
