*Best of DTB #156* The four persons

In a counseling session some years back, our Catholic counselor told me that each person is actually 4 persons- an intellectual person, an emotional person, a spiritual person and a physical person. I certainly came to agree that she was correct. Dr. Lyle H. Rossiter Jr. later confirmed this reality to me.

Yet, two days ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see this concept clearly enunciated by Our Savior in the greatest commandment. (my emphasis)

Mark 12

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with thy whole heart (emotional), and with thy whole soul (spiritual), and with thy whole mind (intellectual), and with thy whole strength (physical). This is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
The key to understanding this concept is to understand that, in a healthy individual, each person interacts with, and is dependent on the other 3.

A ruthless genius with no compassion. An athlete with no ability to manage his own life. A person with the best of intentions that sleeps his life away. An emotional cripple who spends her life lamenting all the evil in the world to no good effect. These are all examples of a life out of balance.

I have found out late in life that problems in one area of life are not usually confined to that area. Depression, for example, is an emotional weakness. Science has determined that it may be partially rooted in the physical realm, including diet. That is true enough. Yet, depression can also be caused by an ill-formed intellect- the frustration that results from having not developed basic problem solving skills. By the same token, some people are depressed simply because their souls are sick. They are overcome with selfishness, anger, pride, envy, unforgiveness...any number of things. Often, all 4 are involved.

Likewise, conditions have outward consequences to all 4 persons.

Jealousy of a neighbor (spiritual) causes Bob to become despondent (emotional). As a result, he concludes that God doesn't exist (intellectual) and gives up going to church. He grows spiritually weaker and falls into drinking which has consequences on his health (Physical). All 4 of Bob's persons suffer consequences of the one sin- Pride.

So, what does Jesus mean?

Exploring this question is what makes being a Catholic so great. It is the very essence of Catholic worship that we endeavor to worship the Creator with all 4 persons.

With the Sacraments and prayer, we serve Him with our soul. With tears of remorse and a joyful, giving heart, our emotions. With Spiritual study, our intellect. With fasting, devotions and acts of charity and work, our bodies.

In this season of lent, I'm starting with the men in the mirror- all 4 of them.

I have come to accept the fact that my poor health is no mere inconvenience, it is something that is robbing my family, friends and the world of what I can offer and for how long. I am trying to eat better, walk more and get that blood sugar down. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired, of not being able to sleep at 1 AM or stay awake at 7 Pm.

I have come to realize the difference between the remorse that chastens and straightens and the scrupulosity that enslaves.

I have come to realize that I need to spend less time feeling sorry for my self and more time empathizing with others.

I have come to understand that I have much to learn and study.

Most of all, I have come to understand that the natural consequence of loving God with all of you is that you would learn to finally and truly love yourself. The fruit of that, naturally, is love of your neighbor.

I guess Jesus knew what He was talking about after-all. We are all-in. All 4 of us.

*BEST OF DTB #155* The Catholic Defender: Look At The Man in the Mirror

Hebrews 2:1 states, "Therefore we must pay the closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it".

The Season of Lent is a great opportunity to reflect on ourselves and to be honest about our faith. Are we growing in the Faith or are we slipping?

The world seems to be constantly tugging at you to get your eyes off the mark.

Hebrews 2:2 continues, "For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience recieved a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?"

How shall we escape the coming judgment if we do not take the Faith seriously?

I know that the pressures of life can be a challenge. We got to pay the bills, we got all the problems to solve. Seems like there is always a storm around us.

I love what Hebrews 2:8 continues to say, "Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one."

Through Jesus suffering, we are enjoined with him through our own suffering. But with this suffering, the Lord santifies us in him.

So my encouragement to you is to embrace the grace the Lord offers you for your own sanctification.

In doing so, you will find joy and peace in the midst of the swirling sea. Look at the mirror and see the one whom the Lord has called.

When you go to Mass, you offer up your whole being as Jesus comes to you in the Eucharist.

The following song was performed at an outdoor concert at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Oak Grove KY.

It was an all day event which was attended by thousands of people.

This was also the day that the great Rich Mullins, A Catholic Convert, died in a tragic car accident. He was on his way to recieve Jesus in the Eucharist.

*BEST OF DTB #154* Forgiveness is not optional

In Matthew 6:14-15, we are given one of the most morally challenging and difficult passages in the entire Bible;

14For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences.

15But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.

So, when we say "well, he doesn't deserve it" and rationalize in our minds that it is OK for us to hold onto unforgiveness because of the grievousness of the injuries (or perceived injuries), we are actually nullifying our own salvation.

In short, Jesus is really not interested in our opinion on the matter. Here is the deal- If you wish to be forgiven, you must forgive. If you wish to be shown mercy, you must show mercy (Matthew 5:7).

What if they aren't sorry? Doesn't matter.
What if what they did was really bad? It Doesn't matter.
What if..... LISTEN. It just doesn't matter.

Yes, it is a high standard. In some cases it may even seem like an unreachable standard. Nevertheless, it is the standard you must reach if you are to be called a Christian. There is ample Biblical support.

Luke 11:4
And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.

Matthew 7:2
For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.
To get straight to the meat of the matter, we are not only unable to judge whether someone is worthy of salvation or mercy, but, in attempting to do so we are setting ourselves up to be measured by the same standard of measure.

No, thanks.

Knowing that we must reach such a difficult standard should not fill us with despair. It should fill us with zeal to approach the throne of grace, seeking the Divine assistance we need to get there, knowing two things;
  1. He who has created the greatest moral debt is most in need of mercy and how can they hope to find it in God if not first finding it in us?
  2. Forgiving the trespasses of others is the greatest proof that we are grateful for the kindness and mercy God has shown us.

My Lord, My God, grant me the grace to forgive. Amen

The Catholic Defender: Act of Faith

Sometimes our faith is put to a tough challenge.

We are sometimes forced to act or react to a situation that will challenge our principles.

This particular video, I speak to a situation that I had no choice but to be a part of.

I am so thankful to the Lord's glory and His wisdom as I have tried to live out His teaching all my adult life.

I am not perfect but I am being perfected.

May the Lord continue to bless His Catholic Church and give us His grace through it.

*BEST OF DTB #153* The Catholic Defender: Temptation in the Desert

I was wondering what to write tonight and I was simply looking for something that might catch my eye.

Well, I think I found it. Lent is a very important season as we reflect on our lives. I recall Jesus "was lead by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil."

What was the main temptations? "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread." "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down." "All these I shall give to you, if you will prostate yourself and worship me."

These temptations recorded in the Gospel of Matthew 4:3-11 tell us a lot about the devil.

He is crafty and cunning. He uses the enviornment to lure his victims. For many, he uses drugs, wild sex, homosexuality, and many other things.

Sometimes, he can be simply appealing to the mind. "C'mom Defender, everybody does it?"

Consider the following temptation that was attempted on me recently. The following was written to me:

"Defender, I have a challenge for you, I know you wont accept and if you do, you wont be honest about it. The challenge is this, don't go to church for one month. Don't be Catholic for one month. Don't say any Catholic prayers, no rosaries, no hail Marys, no saints. Don't do anything Catholic for one month. Instead, just pray directly to God. Seek him out, ask for his guidance. Fast and pray, pray only to God and in Jesus name only. Ask for truth. Do this with a whole heart and you will find, after one month of not being Catholic, that you will never want to return to the RCC. You will discover what Sandor, Sola, Girl, myself and the rest of us have been trying to show you for nearly 2 years!!!" "What have you to lose, Defender?"

I couldn't believe this when I first read this? "What have I to lose?", Well, my soul would be important to me. I recall 1 John 2:18-20, "Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that the anti-christ was coming, so now many anti-christs have appeared. Thus we know this is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of our number; if they had been, they would have remained with us. Their desertion shows that none of them was of our number." So, I will not forsake my Lord for one second, one minute, let alone one month.

Then this was sent to me: "Try it Defender,I pray this always that you convert to real Christianity."

They want me to convert to a new Christianity created and developed by men. Sorry friends, I can't help but see the devil behind the curtain.

Then the following really tells me what is going on: "I have to say I agree with Joe. Defender my friend - what do you have to lose? I did the same test (and I was a Roman Catholic Practitioner the whole 9 yards) and the Lord answered more of my prayers when I let go of all religions and used him (God) alone as my crutch (at least this was/is my experience). But this isn't about answering prayers (I feel like many of us use God for his rewards only which is not the Prime Directives purpose). And if you think you can't do it because you honestly think the Catholic Church is the only way, you need not fear because the Lord would highly appreciate you searching for him the extra mile, not to mention it is our duty to test all things in correlation to Gods Will (and/or using Gods word for reproof in righteousness in all we do). If we didn't test all things & only practiced what we were fed, this surely would acknowledge no real zeal for the Lord but rather conformity for the sake of conforming! I urge you to at least try it, we will be their for you every step of the way! Either way I will always appreciate what you have done for North America (I know Joe does), and we will always love you man!"

I feel the need to add a comment here that the Lord has answered countless prayers for me. Healing, conversion, miracles, and much much more. Jesus calls me to recieve him at Mass in the Eucharist. This is the way in which to renew the Covenant. The Lord would leave the 99 to find the one gone astray. May these individuals find their true home in the Catholic Church!

St. Paul warns, "I am amazed that you are so quickly forsaking the one who called you by the grace of Christ for a different gospel not that there is another. But there are some who are disturbing you and wish to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed! As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you recieved, let that one be accursed!"

The gospel given to us has to be nearly 2,000 years old, founded by Christ and commissioned by Christ to go to all the nations teaching them the gospel. This is the Catholic Faith, to deny the Pope, the bishops, the clergy, and all the teachings handed down from Christ to His Apostles would be a serious sin. Just like the Lord resisted the devil in the desert, we must resist him when he comes challenging you. Lord, Jesus, give us the strength to resist the devil as you did so long ago.

The Devil will certainly want you to miss Mass so anytime you feel that you are getting weak, trust in the Lord with all your heart. This is a great prayer to recall during such times:

"Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen."

The Lord is Our Shephard, and there should be nothing else we should want. All that we have is a gift from Him.

Let us be faithful to Him and renew the Covenant with Him at each Mass!

The Catholic Defender: Where is the Catholic Vote

Are the Mormon followers that much more solid behind a Mormon Candidate than the Catholic support for a Catholic Candidate?

Does it even matter? Are Catholic Women opposed to Senator Santorum because of his steadfastness to Catholic teaching?

If it were not for Protestant Evangelicals, Santorum would not be on first base.

This leads to my original question! Where is the Catholic Vote.

Obama picked up just under 60% of the Catholic vote and now they are supporting Romney?

Is there a Catholic vote that stands up for conservative, pro-life, pro-traditional marriage values?

Can a Catholic really support a pro-homosexual candidate, someone who supports the legalization of drugs?

Does it matter that Soros sees no major diffeerence between Obama and Ramney?

*BEST OF DTB #152* The Catholic Defender: Chemical Castration of Women

The past few weeks there has been much talk about the Obama Administration's war on the Catholic Faith.

The Progressives want to make Birth Control part of health care making it a mandate forcing the Church to bend the knee to Obama.

From what I can see, there has been little to say about the health risk associated to oral contraception.

I have learned that women who are "ER" (Estrogen) positive are at a higher risk of breast cancer using the Pill, which is the highest rate of diagnosis.

About 60% of all breast cancer is due to being Estrogen Positive.

About.com explains breast cancer this way "A score of Estrogen Receptor positive (ER+) means that estrogen is causing your tumor to grow, and that the cancer should respond well to hormone suppression treatments. If the score is Estrogen Receptor negative (ER-), then your tumor is not driven by estrogen, and your results will need to be evaluated along with other tests, such as your HER2 status, to determine the most effective treatment. If you get a Progesterone Receptor positive (PgR+ or PR+) score, the cancer should respond well to hormone suppression treatments. If the score is Progesterone Receptor negative (PgR- or PR-), then your tumor is not driven by progesterone, and another test is needed, for your HER2 status, to determine the most effective treatment. HER2 positive breast cancer responds well to Herceptin treatment."

The most common birth control pills currently handed out by pharmacies combine estrogen and progestin with the intent to circumvent fertility in women through the prevention of ovulation. With a doctors prescription, people can go to any pharmacy and compare various brand names. They commonly contain the same estrogen "ethinyl estradiol" depending on the strength, and can have certain side effects.

The following is taken from Breastcancer.org:

About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

In 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 57,650 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.

About 2,140 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in men in 2011. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.

From 1999 to 2005, breast cancer incidence rates in the U.S. decreased by about 2% per year. The decrease was seen only in women aged 50 and older. One theory is that this decrease was partially due to the reduced use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) by women after the results of a large study called the Women’s Health Initiative were published in 2002. These results suggested a connection between HRT and increased breast cancer risk.

About 39,520 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2011 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1990 — especially in women under 50. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness. (Sandra Fluke is a Georgetown Law student seeking to have the public pay for her contraception. It is interesting that the media turns a blind eye to the health risk posed by ABC).

For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.

Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. Just under 30% of cancers in women are breast cancers.

White women are slightly more likely to develop breast cancer than African-American women. However, in women under 45, breast cancer is more common in African-American women than white women. Overall, African-American women are more llkely to die of breast cancer. Asian, Hispanic, and Native-American women have a lower risk of developing and dying from breast cancer.

In 2011, there were more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the US.

A woman’s risk of breast cancer approximately doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. About 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it.

About 5-10% of breast cancers can be linked to gene mutations (abnormal changes) inherited from one’s mother or father. Mutations of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are the most common. Women with these mutations have up to an 80% risk of developing breast cancer during their lifetime, and they are more likely to be diagnosed at a younger age (before menopause). An increased ovarian cancer risk is also associated with these genetic mutations.

In men, about 1 in 10 breast cancers are believed to be due to BRCA2 mutations, and even fewer cases to BRCA1 mutations.

About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic mutations that happen as a result of the aging process and life in general, rather than inherited mutations.
The most significant risk factors for breast cancer are gender (being a woman) and age (growing older).

*BEST OF DTB #151* NO! You DO NOT have a say!

The demonic witches at Planned Parenthood, the most evil organization on the face of the earth, have really stormed the internet with their "I have a say" campaign. well, I have news for you. You don't have a say, and your shrill screeching isn't going to change that, you vile cretins.

My church has made it very clear that we are not going to support your culture of death, perversion and sluttiness. You can hiss and howl like the snakes and wolves that you are until your heads spin and you spew green vomit and that will not change the fact that your fascist President does not have the authority to force his disgusting deviancy on us. We will take this to the courts and, long after this 21st century Adolph Hitler has been sent back to Chicago with the other mobsters, the Catholic Church will be leading the charge to eradicate your sick ideology from the face of the earth.

So, make sure you tell your unwashed leaders to finish up what ever rape, murdering and pillaging remains for them because you disgusting pigs are on your way out.

As the video above so forcefully puts it, I do not have an obligation to pay for your sex. That's not all, though. YOU do not have a say over the right of another human being's right to live and, since that baby cannot exercise it's say, I WILL stand in the gap and I couldn't care less whether you like it or not. Just TRY and stop me.

*BEST OF DTB #150* The Catholic Defender: From Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan

The White House is calling for the Bishops of the United States to listen to the Liberal Catholics such as Nancy Pelosi and Company.

Think about this for a second. The Bishops are the successors of the Apostles.

Jesus Christ established the Catholic Church giving it his Great Commission (Matthew 28:19)to go to all the Nations.

Can you imagine what the Apostles Peter and Paul would have thought about Pontius Pilate ordering the faithful to follow Simon the Magician (ACTS 8:9-23)?

Like St. Peter's response to Simon, Cardinal Dolan's calls for the Pelosi Complex (rebellion) echos "Repent of this wickedness of yours and pray to the Lord that, if possible, your intention may be forgiven" (ACTS 8:22).

From the desk of Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, February 22, 2012

"Dear Brother Bishops, Since we last wrote to you concerning the critical efforts we are undertaking together to protect religious freedom in our beloved country, many of you have requested that we write once more to update you on the situation and to again request the assitance of all the faithful in this important work. We are happy to do so now.

First, we wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to you, and to all our sisters and brothers in Christ, for the remarkable witness of our unity in faith and strength of conviction during this past month. We have made our voices heard, and we will not cease from doing so until religious freedom is restored.

As we know, on January 20, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a decision to issue final regulations that would force practically all employers, including many religious institutions, to pay for abortion inducing drugs, sterilizations, and contraception. The regulations would provide no protections for our great institutions--such as Catholic charities, hospitals, and universities--orfor the individual faithful in the marketplace. The regulations struck at the heart of our fundamental right to religious liberty, which affects our ability to serve those outside our faith community.

Since January 20, the reaction was immediate and sustained. We came together, joined by people of every creed and political persuasion, to make one thing resoundingly clear: we stand united against any attempt to deny or weaken the right to religious liberty upon which our country was founded.

On Friday, February 10, the Administration issued the final rules. By their very terms, the rules were reaffirmed "without change." The mandate to provide the illicit services remains. The exceedingly narrow exemption for churches remains. Despite the outcry, all the threats to religious liberty posed by the initial rules remain.

Religious freedom is a fundamental right of all. This right does not depend on any government's decision to grant it: it is God-given, and just societies recognize and respect its free exercise. The free execise of religion extends well beyond the freedom of worship. It also forbids government from forcing people or groups to violate their most deepely held religious convictions, and from interfering in the internal affairs of religious organizations.

Recent actions by the Administration have attempted to reduce this free excerise to a "privilege" arbitrarily granted by the government as a mere exemption from an all-encompassing, extreme form of secularism. The exemption is too narrowly defined, because it does not exempt most non-profit religious employers, the religiously affliliated insurer, the self-insured employer, the for-profit religious employer, or other private business owned and operated by people who rightly object to paying for abortion inducing drugs, sterization, and contraception. And because it is instituted only by executive whim, even this unduly narrow exemption can be taken away easily.

In the United States, religious liberty does not depend on the benevolence of who is regulating us. It is our "first freedom" and respect for it must be broad and inclusive--not narrow and exclusive. Catholics and other people of faith and good will are not second class citizens. And it is not for the government to decide which of our ministries is "religious enough" to warrent religious freedom protection.

This is not just about contraception, abortion-causing drugs, and sterilization--although all should recognize the injustices involved in making them part of a universal mandated health care program. It is not about Republican or Democrats, conservative or liberals. It is about people of faith. This is first and foremost a matter of religious liberty for all. If the government can, for example, tell Catholics that they cannot be in the insurance business today without violating their religious convictions, where does it end? This violates the constitutional limits on our government, and the basic rights upon which our country was founded.

Much remains to be done. We cannot rest when faced with so grave a threat to the religious liberty for which our parents and grandparents fought. In this moment in history we must work diligently to preserve religious liberty and to remove all threats to the practice of our faith in the public square. This is our heritage as Americans. President Obama should rescind the mandate, or at the very least, provide full and effective measures to protect religious liberty and conscience.

Above all, dear brothers, we rely on the help of the Lord in this important struggle. We all need to act now by contacting our legislators in support of the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, which can be done through our action alert on www.usccb.org/conscience.

We invite you to share the contents of this letter with the faithful of your diocese in whatever form, or by whatever means, you consider most suitable. Let us continue to pray for a quick and complete resolution to this and all threats to religious liberty and the exercise of our faith in our great country."

The challenge to our religious liberty is real and timely.

Can you imagine a world when all Catholic hospitals close, when all Catholic charities close, when all Catholic schools close, this is a terrible reality to find ourselves.

We need to get back to the basics of our holy Catholic Faith. It is still not too late.

The bible says, "if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14). Catholics, deepertruth encourages you to stand with the Bishops, the Successors of the Apostles, and to reject the liberal Catholics (Nancy Pelosi) who says evil is good and good is evil (Isaiah 5:20).

Update-Update-Update: By Veronica of Defenders of the Catholic Faith (DCF); "Cardinal Timothy Dolan sent a letter to his brother bishops earlier this week where he revealed a shocking conversation that recently took place at a meeting between White House and USCCB staff:

At a recent meeting between staff of the bishops’ conference and the White House staff, our staff members asked directly whether the broader concerns of religious freedom—that is, revisiting the straight-jacketing mandates, or broadening the maligned exemption—are all off the table. They were informed that they are. So much for “working out the wrinkles.” Instead, they advised the bishops’ conference that we should listen to the “enlightened” voices of accommodation, such as the recent, hardly surprising yet terribly unfortunate editorial in America. The White House seems to think we bishops simply do not know or understand Catholic teaching and so, taking a cue from its own definition of religious freedom, now has nominated its own handpicked official Catholic teachers."

*BEST OF DTB #149* I have a say !

Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood, put out a video, noting that many women are not getting their voices heard on the Birth Control issue. So she has started an “I have a say” campaign.
Well I agree with Ms. Richards. Many women are not being heard and we do have a say. But, I don’t think she really meant ALL women. I don’t think she meant Catholic women who love the church, and are obedient to her teachings that are there to protect the very women that hate her. You see Ms. Richards, not every woman has bought into Planned Parenthoods lie. Contraception is not medicine, pregnancy is not a disease and unborn children are not ugly tumors that threaten a woman’s very existence. But that is the “theology” you must subscribe to, when you offer up fertility on the sacrificial altar you call “choice”. Our wombs are the battle grounds and the fruits of our fertility, the enemy.
There are 5 words that resonate when I look at the results of our contraceptive minded society. The Catholic Church was right! What was supposed to liberate women has chained them. What was supposed to strengthen marriages destroyed them. What was certainly going to uplift the dignity of women has reduced them to mere play things. And what was going to decrease abortion has not only increased abortion, but abortion has become yet another form of contraception. And now, the promoters of “choice” are giving no choice to those who refuse to declare fertility, the enemy, but a gift from the Author of Life.
In the late 60’s, the Catholic Church put together a commission to take a new look at the issue of contraception and its moral implications. Out of that commission came the Encyclical “Humane Vitae” written in 1968 by Pope Paul VI. Every prediction mentioned in that encyclical has come to pass. Every single one! So while Ms. Richards, Planned Parenthood, and many of our elected Representatives, continue to spread the Big Lie, that the answer is contraception for all, the voice of Catholic Church continues to be the voice of reason and truth. I am part of that church Ms. Richards and my choice is to proclaim her teachings. I will not lie to women. I have a voice and my voice will speak the truth!
As a cancer survivor, I have a very high stake in this issue. You see, my Breast Cancer was estrogen positive. So, I don’t need extra estrogen in my body. It’s harmful to me and others like me. Studies have shown, that the overabundant use of hormonal contraceptives are polluting our water. “Dr. Conrad Daniel Volz from the University of Pittsburgh Center for Environmental Oncology, warned that the rise in steroid hormones in the drinking water in the Pittsburgh area is a threat to health. Numerous studies have shown a link between contraceptive estrogen and hormone problems and some cancers, including testicular cancer.” (Lifesite News source) Entire populations of fish have been wiped out, because the male fish have become feminized by the hormones in the water. It is responsible for the onset of earlier puberty in our young girls. The International Agency for Research on Cancer, an arm of the World Health Organization declared in 2005, that “the Pill”, is a Class 1 Carcinogen. And you call this health care? A woman’s right? Stop lying to women, Ms. Richards. Stop hiding the facts.
Up until 1930, all Christian denominations believed that contraception was a grave moral evil, but only the Catholic Church has remained steadfast in this teaching for over 2000 years, and she will continue to do so. You can try Ms. Richards, but you will not silence her voice, nor will you silence mine. I have a say.

*Best OF DTB #146* Contraception??

I have been watching the news regarding Sarah Fluke.  If you are not sure who she is, she has made headlines lately speaking before a congressional commitee about her mission to make sure that we Americans make sure that we can pay for her contraception via Obamacare. Her contention Is that she currently matriculates at a  54,000 a year institution and she simply cannot afford it. The institution is Georgetown University Law School, which is a Catholic University.

This is NOT about her being able to afford/not afford contraception. This is about making the Catholic Church pay for something that is against their view. This is an end around to force the church to openly make birth control available.  Ms. Fluke is a shill for the pro choice crowd and all their ilk.

I have decided to express my views on this subject.
I believe that you CHOOSE whether or not to have sex.  It is a personal decision that every individual makes. If you cannot afford it or the consequences of it, then…don't engage in sexual activity. Ms. Fluke is smart enough to get into Georgetown law School, but is not smart enough to figure out a way to pay for her contraception?

I worked at a Catholic hospital in New Jersey. Part of my health benefit was that we could fill our prescriptions at the hospital, it was convenient and the co-pays were the same as going to a retail pharmacy. Since it was a catholic hospital we weren't allowed to fill birth control prescriptions, UNLESS the doctor deemed it medically necessary.  The doctor had to clearly state on the prescription that is was indeed medically necessary. So those that claim that they NEED their birth control due to heavy periods, endometriosis or what have you, will NOT be eligible to receive their birth control  at a Catholic Institution are just misinformed.

I have seen people get turned down for their birth control and be told that you just have to have the doctor write on the script, "medically necessary". They return, with the script and the words added. The doctors are knowingly participating in fraud.  Hey, it's the only way it will be filled at a catholic institution so whats the harm??

This is not about Ms. Fluke and her inability to pay for her birth control. This is about Ms. Fluke being a spokesperson for the pro choice agenda.  This is about the current Washington Administration being openly hostile to the Catholic Church and all of her believers.

*Best of DTB #145* The Catholic Defender: An Act of Heroism

This past week (Monday), the tragic news reports about a young teenager at Chardon Ohio (T.J. Lane), brought a 22 Caliber pistal and a knife, and began to open fire on fellow students in the school cafeteria.

Three Students were killed and another remains in critical condition in a nearby hospital.

There was one other student who was wounded but was soon released. My heart goes out to these children and their families.

This is something that I would recognize in a war zone, but to see this in a public School in America is truly a tragedy. Coach Frank Hall , the assistant High School football coach immediately responded at the scene charging and yelling at the shooter causing him to flee.

He gave chase to the shooter placing himself in danger and preventing more children from being shot.

Thursday afternoon, Coach Hall told a news conference, "To the families of Danny, Demetrius and Russell, I want you to know that I was with them," clearly in an emotional moment, he said, "I prayed with them. I wiped their tears. And I know God was with them." Danny Parmentor, 17, Demetrius Hewlin, 16, and Russell King Jr., 17, all died from from their wounds.

May the perpetual light of the Lord, shine upon them now and forever, Amen.

Coach Hall also said he was simply, "Just a football coach and a study hall teacher," Coach, thank you for your quick thinking and action in responding to this terrible tragedy.

Showing himself to be simply someone who was on the scene, Coach recognized as the true heros of this tragady were the law enforcement and first responders as the real heros, but many of the students and faculty will never forget Coach Hall's quick response in saving other lives. I dedicate this song for all who have given their all. My wife was at the Emergency Room parking lot on November 5th at Fort Hood for a routine meeting when the dead and wounded came quickly pooring in. Heros are those who rise above a circumstance and responds thinking of others who are in the immediate need. Coach, you are a hero, God bless you!

Catholic Defender: RIP Andrew BrietBart

Today, at age 43, Andrew Brietbart passed away due to "natural" causes. Mr. Brietbart had been a champion for conservative causes.

Despite early liberal influences in his life, he would change his political views as a result of the Clarence Thomas hearings.

From that time on, there was no looking back. He wrote conservatively for the Huffington Post and the Drudge Report that was coined the "New Media".

I remember watching him on Fox News defending the conservative positions at various times.

He was involved with exposing the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal that ultimately caused Weiner's resignation.

Anthony Brietbart would speak at key Tea Party events across the United States.

I remember that fateful day when Nancy Pelosi marched through the vast crowd calling for the defeat of Obama Care.

She carried that large gavel to taunt the crowd.

The liberal press made the accusation that the Tea Party "Activists" hurled racial slurs at the Representatives as they went through the crowd.

Some went on to say that the Tea Party Activists "spit" at them.

Mr. Brietbart offered to pay $100,000 dollars to the "United Negro College Fund" if they can find any proof of such racial slurs, to this point, there are no takers.

Interestingly, the media was all over the event and can not find any such incident. Andrew Brietbart could be seen challenging the Wall Street Protestors who were disrupting business in New York and branced to many cites across America.

In their wake, there was violence, rape, and even murder. In Oakland, several police were hurt in dealing with these protestors.

The following are some of the controversies uncovered by Andrew Brietbart and associates as found in Wiki:

Anthony Weiner

Main article: Anthony Weiner sexting scandal

On May 28, 2011, Breitbart posted a sexually explicit photo on his Big Journalism website of New York Representative Anthony Weiner obtained through Weiner's Twitter account. Weiner initially denied that he had sent a 21-year-old female college student the link to the photograph, but after questions developed, he admitted to inappropriate online relationships. On June 6, 2011 Breitbart reported other photos Weiner had sent, including one that was sexually graphic. On June 8, 2011, the sexually graphic photo was leaked after Breitbart participated in a radio interview with hosts Opie and Anthony, though Breitbart stated that the photo was published without his permission. Weiner subsequently resigned from his congressional seat on June 21, 2011.

Shirley Sherrod

Main article: Resignation of Shirley Sherrod

On July 19, 2010, Breitbart posted two short videos showing excerpts of a speech by Shirley Sherrod at an NAACP fundraising dinner in March 2010. The ensuing controversy resulted in Sherrod being fired from the United States Department of Agriculture on July 19. After Breitbart was criticized for taking Sherrod's words out of context, he posted the complete 40-minute video of the speech. The NAACP stated that the video excerpts aired by Breitbart were deliberately deceptive and said that he had "snookered" the group. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack later apologized to Sherrod and offered her a new job. In 2011, Sherrod brought suit against Breitbart for defamation.

ACORN undercover videos

Main article: ACORN 2009 undercover videos controversy

Breitbart was also involved in the 2009 ACORN video controversy. Hannah Giles posed as a prostitute seeking assistance while James O'Keefe portrayed her boyfriend, and clandestinely videotaped meetings with ACORN staff. Subsequent criminal investigations by the Brooklyn District Attorney's office and the California Attorney General found the videos were heavily edited in an attempt to make ACORN's responses "appear more sinister", and contributed to the group's demise. Breitbart then provided a forum for O'Keefe on his Big Government.com websites and defended his actions on Sean Hannity's Fox News Channel program. Notice how the liberal media responds to Andrew BrietBart? And yes, the Protestors did in fact commit murder, they committed rape, they desecrated the parks in the most vile ways.
